Tea Tasting at Stevens Oriental and Kilim East on December 10th at EG Main Street Holiday Stroll - "Ladies Night' Stevens Oriental and Kilim East, two East Greenwich Main Street businesses that have joined together under one roof, will celebrate the artistry of their unique wares with a special Tea Tasting and entertainment during the Main Street Holiday Stroll ‘Ladies Night’ on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 5pm to 8pm. Stevens Oriental owner, Betsy Stevens and Kilim East owner, Stacey Chaffee, are offering customers the opportunity to sample gourmet teas from some of the regions their products originate such as Turkey and India. An assortment of premium teas including Rize tea from Turkey, Darjeeling and Assam teas from India will be available for customers to sample as they tour the one-of-a-kind kilim products from Kilim East and Stevens’ beautiful handwoven oriental rugs from all areas across the mid-east and far-east, including Turkey and India. Handwoven Turkish kilims, once enjoyed as rugs and wall hangings, have been created into unique shoes, bags, boots, purses, home furnishings and other Kilim East items. Stevens Oriental Rugs, a long time Main Street business, offers some of the finest handmade oriental rugs in Rhode Island. According to Kilim East owner, Stacey Chaffee, “our Tea Tasting is a way for customers to experience the culture of these regions while enjoying the beauty and magic of the products themselves.” Betsy Stevens agrees and said, “Our customers have a deep appreciation for the artistry of genuine handwoven Turkish, Indian or Persian rugs. We want to show our appreciation to them by bringing some of that culture home to East Greenwich to enhance their experience.” Special ‘regional’ entertainment is promised on this special night, as well.
