The mere fact that the State Dept. of Education has a paid position called "public information officer" says all that needs to be said about the state of government-run education in RI and how taxpayer dollars are being spent. This might be the only way to save public education; force it to improve via market forces. The pending legislation is a win for taxpayers and a win for children (not that they should ever enter into the equation). The fact that it is a loss for the status quo of career Educrats is yet another win. When the NEA and AFT inevitably come out against it, you'll know it's a quadruple win.
