Mr. Cushman's analysis forgets to mention that state funding to cities and town was slashed resulting in a loss of somethingike $20 million a year! Guess that fact is unimportant. I don't think the schools were cut anything or if they were cut the required pension contribution was reduced to off-set the cut. Level funding when the student population decreases in the hunders each year is in effect an increase and a large one.

The fact is the student population is decreasing and the the School Committee is doing the right thing to reduce costs and reinvest in the system. I hope they have the courage to see the process through.
