Actually I live here and the old road-end was a real problem in terms of beach access. It was often flooded with gross water. I think the new design will help that a lot. At first I was skeptical about the look, but this week they finished the gravel path from the road to the beach and it looks a lot better. Plus I think they are going to be planting the dirt area this fall, which should help with the water and make it look better too. We will have to see how it works when it rains a lot, but at least they are trying something here. In many other areas of the city there is nothing but neglect. As for the waste of money comment, I think this was funded with a federal grant. Not that this matters totally, but it's not going to hit our local tax bills anyway. Thanks to Save the Bay and the city for trying to solve this problem.
