If I have this right, "...math scores are too low and schools need improvement in that area." On the other hand, "...reading scores aren’t anything to write home about." Per census data, RI has the second lowest level of median adult education in New England, and Warwick's adults are less well educated than the state as a whole. RI, and certainly Warwick, is becoming an older and increasingly under-educated region. The result is a seismic demographic shift from 25 years ago; one in which a higher proportion of families with means now send their children to private and parochial schools, which further dilutes the academic talent pool in local public schools. In short, parents want nothing to do with math scores that are "too low", or reading scores that "aren't anything to write home about".
