While Warwick lacked a Veterans Day parade this year, the occasion did not go unnoticed as the Warwick Veterans Council placed a wreath on the stone at the Warwick Veterans Park in front of Vets High School Sunday morning. Among those turning out were Vietnam veterans Joseph Koole (left) and Fred Adams. Both are past presidents of the Warwick Veterans Council. Adams is also a veteran of the Korean War. Gathered at the monument for the park are from left: James Murphy, Veterans Council President Tony Rodrigues, Fred Adams, Betty and Paul Kelley, Councilwoman Donna Travis, Councilwoman Camille Vella-Wilkinson and her husband Kenneth, House Representative-elect K. Joseph Shekarchi and Brenda Gomez. Also observing the day in a ceremony arranged by Corrine Elwell, were residents at Greenwich Farms at Warwick. Following a flag raising and comments, veterans of the facility joined for lunch. Pictured, Celia Dunder, who served in the Navy fleet post office from 1943 to 1946, enjoys the flag waving of the event’s youngest attendee, Jackie Martin. (Warwick Beacon photos)
