3 city offices relocated to Randall Holden School

Completing the relocation of City Hall Annex offices from the former Greene School on Draper Avenue, Management Information Services (MIS), the Personnel Department and the Office of Community Development have been relocated to the former Randall Holden Elementary School, 61 Hoxsie Avenue, (near Hoxsie Four Corners).

The remaining offices that moved into Greene after a burst pipe forced the closure of the Annex in January 2018 have been relocated to the former Buttonwoods Community Center.

“I’m very pleased that all of our offices have now been relocated from Draper Avenue, which was certainly not conducive to long-term use by the public and our employees,” the mayor said in a statement. He pointed out that the facility had a number of code and ADA-compliance issues. “Both Randall Holden and Buttonwoods are much more conveniently located, safer and far more appropriate locations for municipal offices.”

Upon taking office, Solomon made the reopening of the former Buttonwoods Community Center, which had been closed since 2017, a priority. In June, repairs were completed and other municipal offices were relocated to the Buttonwoods Municipal Annex and Community Center at 3027 West Shore Road. Those offices include the Tax Collector and Tax Assessor’s Offices, the Planning Department, the City Council and Council Liaison, and the Building Department, which includes the Property Maintenance Division and Zoning Office.

The city offices occupy the northeast wing of Randall Holden School. The remainder of the school is to be leased to Westbay Community Action as a centralized facility for its services.

Paul Salera, Westbay director, said he has reached an agreement with the mayor although as of last week he could not provide the terms. A lease will require City Council approval.
