The Pilgrim girls’ lacrosse team fell in an early 3-0 hole against Chariho in the Division III championship at Brown University, but it was undeterred.
From there, Pilgrim went on to outscore the Chargers, 11-5, en route to capturing the school’s first lacrosse crown with an 11-8 victory.
Senior captain Kendra Tantimonico helped set the pace after Chariho’s strong start. In all, she would net a game-high five goals.
“She’s a huge pressure player, she loves this stuff,” Pilgrim head coach Tom Flanders said of Tantimonico after the win. “She’s a gamer and that’s the way it is. When she scored the first goal, I knew it was going to be a day like that. She gets that way and it’s almost like she’s possessed. She’s dynamite.”
Pilgrim’s title game victory came after the program lost two championship contests over the previous five seasons.

This was a great team with a great coach who has built a heckuva program. Missing fro the article is that the team went undefeated on the way to the Championship!
Unfortunately, what's also missing is any mention of the Cinderella 7th seeded Pilgrim Girls Field Hockey team that also won a state championship this past Fall. They may be the only state champions that didn't make the list. It certainly seems like every Hendricken accomplishment was accounted for (8 of 15 on the list!).
