William and Alice McIntyre, formerly of Warwick, will be married for 60 years on Aug. 14, 2013. They were married on Aug. 14, 1953 at St. Augustine’s Church in Providence.
Before they moved to Texas in 1985, Alice served as librarian at Bishop Hendricken High School for 17 years. Bill taught at Lockwood High School from 1950 to 1955, after which he entered elementary education and went on to serve as an elementary school principal in Coventry and Warwick for 28 years. In Texas, Bill served as a principal in the Austin School Department and completed his professional career as supervisor of student teaching at Southwest Texas State University and at the University of Texas at Austin.
The McIntyres have six children: Patricia Pequeno (Lupe) of Austin; William Jr. (Linda) of Nashville, Tenn.; Douglas J. (Cookie) of Columbus, Ohio; Dr. John R. McIntyre (Colleen) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Elizabeth Choate (Douglas) of Austin and Richard B. (Betsy) of Washington, D.C. They also have 12 grandchildren.
The family will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a banquet and attendance at two Boston Red Sox/Houston Astros games in Houston.
