A call for Mitt to step in

To the Editor:

The present candidates for president don’t have the experience, the judgment, the transparency or the conscientiousness to solve the problems facing the United States in today’s world. The people of the United States need a candidate who has a record of bringing community leaders, state leaders, federal leaders and world leaders together to solve problems.

Therefore, I hope that Mitt Romney enters the race for president as an Independent candidate. Although it will be difficult for Mitt to get the 270 Electoral College votes necessary to become president, none of the other candidates will be able to get 270 Electoral College votes.

In cases like this, the Constitution of the United States calls for the House of Representatives to determine who will become president. The House will choose Mitt because as governor of Massachusetts Mitt worked with the leaders of the Massachusetts legislature to create the best healthcare system and the best education system in the United States. As the head to the 2002 Winter Olympics Mitt worked with community leaders, state leaders, federal leaders and the leaders of hundreds of nations during the 9/11 crisis to create the most successful Winter Olympics in history. As a pastor in his church, Mitt has spent hundreds of hours working with community leaders to bring help to the poor, the elderly and the disadvantaged. Mitt will be able to bring Republicans, Democrats and independents together and pass a workable comprehensive immigration reform bill that will solve the problem of illegal immigration.

Unfortunately, the Republican voter was not impressed enough with Mitt in 2012 resulting in below-expected turnout; this, combined with rampant voter fraud, gave Obama the win. Romney running in 2016 would only split the Republican/Conservative vote, resulting in Hillary's election.

Sorry, Ken, but I have to disagree- let's hope for our Nation's sake Mitt stays out of it.

On another note, it's past time to abolish the Electoral College- popular election results are accurate enough (barring fraud) to eliminate its further need.

The average voter had nothing to do with Romney’s loss. Romney lost because the Republican governors of Virginia, Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin did not get out the Evangelical vote and Chris Christie threw Romney under the bus while praising Obama during hurricane Sandy. In the last months, Romney was short of money because Gingrich and Santorum forced Romney to spend too much money in the primaries. Many Evangelicals did not vote for Romney because many Evangelical leaders felt that Mormonism was a cult. This was an unconstitutional act. Romney would have kept a large number of troops in Iraq, would have prevented the establishment of ISIS, and would have established a no fly zone in Syria. Hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved in the Middle East. Romney would have worked to bring Republicans and Democrats together. Today’s candidates will assure that Gridlock in Washington will continue.

What he would/wouldn't have done if elected in 2012 is conjecture- what would happen if he runs now, isn't. I've always liked him, but this is not his time.

He'd make an excellent "Git 'er Done" cabinet member, though.

President Bush stated in a July 12, 2007 White House news conference that setting a deadline to remove all troops from Iraq is a mistake. A president should never tell the enemy what their war plans are. Military leaders in the battle zone should determine when it is safe to remove all troops. It is well known that military leaders in the field favored keeping a large force in Iraq and having a no fly zone in Syria. This is not conjecture. This was Republican war policy in 2007.
