Aldrich Mansion is venue for 2 Newport Music Festival concerts

Posted

Historic Aldrich Mansion & Estate will host two concerts on July 23 in a partnership with the internationally-acclaimed Newport Music Festival. The concerts scheduled at this newest venue, and farthest from Newport, will feature Festival favorites, violinist Eugen Tzikindelean and pianist Michael Endres in the morning and cellist Luigi Piovano and pianist Bernadene Blaha in the evening.

Tickets are purchased directly from Newport Music Festival at www.newportmusic.org or the box office at 849-0700. Individual ticket prices range from $30 to $90.

“We’re very excited to collaborate with Newport Music Festival on this prestigious Rhode Island tradition and look forward to establishing a long friendship with Mark Malkovich and his organization,” said John Gazerro, director of Aldrich Mansion & Estate. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to continue our expansion beyond weddings and business meetings, and provide an enjoyable occasion to welcome back members of the community and introduce ourselves to new audiences.”

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Aldrich Mansion is majestically perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the estate’s manicured lawns and Narragansett Bay. Once the spectacular home of U.S. Senator Nelson W. Aldrich (R-RI 1881-1911), the 56,000-square-foot mansion is an architectural masterpiece of The Gilded Age rivaling the great mansions of Newport. The private 70-acre estate is an enclave secluded from crowds and traffic, yet only seven miles from a regional airport, train station and interstate highway.

“Staging two of Newport Music Festival’s concerts at Aldrich Mansion & Estate is a perfect opportunity to bring our world class performances to an entirely new audience, while maintaining the elegance and distinction our longtime patrons have come to expect,” Newport Music Festival General Manager Mark Malkovich IV said in a statement. “Concert-goers will also have the option to partake in another Festival tradition of enjoying lunch on the grounds or an evening cocktail reception on the Grand Terrace. It will be a memorable day and magical night for everyone.”
