Alexandria “Alex” Stricklin, 14, died May 1, 2014 at Boston Children’s Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of Rev. Todd and Maureen A. (Pontes) Stricklin.

Alex was diagnosed with childhood pulmonary hypertension and even though she had that condition, she had an incredible love for life. Alex made everyone she met feel special. Home schooled and currently in the ninth grade, she had aspirations to be a pediatric nurse. Alex was active in her youth group at the Narragansett Bay Baptist Church. She loved music, taking art classes, and sewing lessons. Though unable to participate in active sports, it did not hinder her involvement, as she demonstrated an intense love for her big brothers’ endeavors. Alex exemplified devotion to both her faith and family.

She also leaves her brothers Trevor Stricklin and Torrey Stricklin, and “sisters” Christa A. Fischer and Shelby D. Palafox; and her grandparents David and Gladys (Braley) Pontes, Kenneth and Lee Stricklin, and Carlene Stricklin.

The funeral service and celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Radisson, 2081 Post Road, Warwick (University Ballroom, 2nd Floor), with a visitation 4-7 p.m. The interment will be private at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.

Memorial contributions to the Alexandria “Alex” Stricklin Memorial Fund, c/o PO Box 9103, Warwick, RI 02889 to help with childhood pulmonary hypertension would be appreciated. Information and condolences, visit QuinnFuneralHome.com
