Alice S. (Chase) Gardiner, RN, 87, of Warwick, RI passed away peacefully on October 31, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John L. Gardiner, Sr.

She was born in Providence, RI to the late Chester and Alice (Beattie) Chase. Alice graduated from Roger Williams Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1949. She practiced nursing at Yale New Haven Hospital, New York Hospital, and Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was a past president of the Narragansett Council of Camp Fire Girls. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening and travel. She had an avid interest in family genealogy and was a member of the RI Historical Society and the RI Genealogical Society.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Susan Jordan and her husband, William of Sierra Vista, Arizona; her son, John Gardiner, Jr. and his wife, Jill, and her daughters, Alice Gardiner and Amy Gardiner all of Warwick, RI; and her granddaughter, Nichole Jordan and her husband, Ben of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Ferguson of Pascoag, RI and her brother, Chester Chase of Sparta, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Carr, formerly of Smithfield, RI.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Highland Memorial Park Chapel. Visitation Wednesday 4-6 p.m. in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt. 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, Greenville. For messages of condolence, please see andersonwinfield.net
