It was Sunday, Jan. 17, after church when I decided to treat myself, an elderly widower, to French toast at IHOP at 10 a.m. I sat at a small table and across from me sat a couple and I would say a preteen boy and girl. We didn’t speak and I sat alone enjoying my French toast.

When finished eating, the waitress came to me and said the boy in the booth paid for my breakfast.

Having already finished my breakfast, I went to the family and shook the boy’s hand and thanked him for his thoughtfulness. I was very impressed and he made my day. I failed to tell his parents what a fine thing they do to bring up their children in a thoughtful and kind way. Hopefully they buy the Beacon and see this note.

Wow. I don't know who that "preteen boy" was but he is a future leader of our city. Warwick should be exceptionally proud of him. Einstein once said "Setting an example is not the main means of influencing others. It's the only means."

He sets the best example! Congratulations to you, whoever you are.

    Stay a leader.
