Baker’s Baskets Where acts of kindness bring smiles...and full hearts
Lisa Baker, owner of Baker's Baskets, brings smiles, joy, and her son's legacy of goodness through anonymous acts of kindness.

It has often been said that our eyes are the window to our souls. It could also be convincingly said that a smile is the truest reflection of our hearts - and with that smile, our hearts may be extended to others. Everyone knows someone whose heart was lifted by the smile of another, and it is this simple and yet profound truth that motivates Lisa Baker every day when she goes to work at her cheerful shop, Baker's Baskets, in Warwick. Lisa opened Baker's Baskets following the death of her cherished son Evan to pay homage to his life of kindness, selflessness and generosity. Baker's Baskets was a way for Lisa to honor her son's name and to "pay forward" his legacy of goodness by encouraging others to think of those in need and to share with them the gift of a heartfelt smile.

Baker's Baskets is a visually beautiful shop of fresh flowers and unique and timeless gifts, located across the street from Mickey Stevens Complex. Along with fragrant blooms, every nook and cranny is filled with such delights as Yankee candles, treats, keepsakes, cards and any number of treasures that, when combined, create thoughtful baskets of goodwill and love.

When Lisa first opened Baker's Basket's, she felt strongly about implementing a program of "random acts of kindness" wherein unsuspecting people would receive an anonymously sent surprise flower arrangement. This inspired idea, known as "Evan's Smile" continues to uplift people every day - just as Evan did with his radiant smile. Remarkably, there is no charge for these flowers and no thought for return, except to see the recipient of the flowers smile ~ a true "Evan's Smile" that might live on in the hearts of others.

To partner with Lisa Baker in her effort to bring smiles and joy to others, all you have to do is go to Baker's Baskets and nominate someone in need of some cheer. Lisa has set out a special hatbox with Evan's photo on it where a "vote" can be cast (with a name and address) for someone deserving of this unexpected gesture. The sender is anonymous, but a card, signed by Baker's Baskets, is attached to express Lisa's desire that Evan's infectious smile might touch them and inspire them to come in and vote for someone as well!

As the holidays approach and some are left with heavy hearts, come in and nominate someone in your life who could use a reason to smile. Baker's Baskets is located at 16 Freeborn Street. The hours here are M-Th, 10:00am - 5:00pm, Fridays, 10:00am - 6:00pm, and Saturdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm.
