Barbara J. (Somers) Novak, R.N., age 70, of Canna Street, Warwick, died on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of Andrew F. Novak. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 6.
Born in Scranton, PA, a daughter of the late Robert J. and Jean C. (Jones) Somers, she lived in Dallas, PA before moving to Warwick 12 years ago. A registered nurse, she was a 1968 graduate of Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton. She earned a Master’s Degree in Geriatric Counseling from Stonybrook University, Long Island, NY. Barbara was employed by Home Care Advantage in Cranston for the last 11 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Christopher Novak and his wife, Peggy, of Montgomery, TX, and David A. Novak of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter, Carolyn Davis and her husband, David, of Warwick; three sisters, Kathy Cimino of Lewes, DE, Mary Ellen O’Malley of Scranton, PA, and Patricia Padeletti of Rochester, NY; a brother, Robert Somers of Broadland, VA; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
