Beatrice G. (Scanlon) Alfano, 87, of Warwick, RI, died on June 7, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Mario R. Alfano for 66 years.

Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Varley) Scanlon, Beatrice spent almost her entire life in Warwick. She worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s accounting firm for over 35 years. Beatrice was a member of the Save Hendricken Committee and served on the Parents Advisory Council at The Prout School. She was inducted into the first Hall of Fame class at both Prout and Hendricken.

She was the cherished mother of Nancee Wilson, and her husband, Chuck, of East Greenwich, and Kenneth R. Alfano, of Warwick. She was the grandmother of Michael, Matt and Ryan Wilson; and the sister of Thomas Scanlon, Patricia Papa, Marilyn Creta, and the late Monica Kagan.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, June 11 at 8:45 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Road, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 10, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be at the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
