Bernard C. “Bernie” Mayo, age 78, of Whippoorwill Road, Litchfield, Maine, and formerly of Metcalf Street, Warwick, Rhode Island, died on Monday, September 8, 2014, at the Marshwood Health Care Facility in Lewiston, Maine. He was the husband of the late Beverly T. (Holmes) Mayo.

Born in Covington, Kentucky, the son of the late Clarence and Marie (Michael) Mayo, he lived in Warwick, RI for most of his life, moving to Maine in 1999. Mr. Mayo was a sales representative, most recently employed by Howley White Associates, Inc. of Burlington, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Maine Bass Federation and the Rhode Island Bass Federation.

He is survived by a son, Bryan B. Mayo and his partner, Linda Guastello of Warwick; two grandchildren, Kristen Mayo and William Swartworth, III; a great-grandchild, Cassie Mayo; two sisters, Joanne Provost of Wilmington, Mass. and Elaine McCormack of Florida; and his companion of 26 years, Donna Bartlett of Litchfield, Maine. He was the father of the late Army Chief Warrant Officer Sharon T. Swartworth; and the brother of the late Ruth Jenkins.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI.
