The Hendricken football team kept its momentum going with a 56-0 victory over Woonsocket on Friday, marking the third straight game that the Hawks have produced over 50 points.
The Hawks celebrated their senior night in ideal fashion. Senior signal-caller Chris Hindle led the way with three touchdown passes, but it was Hendricken’s balanced attack that posed problems for the Novans, as eight different Hendricken players found their way into the end zone in the lopsided victory.
The Hawks raced out to a 28-0 lead after a quarter of play. Hindle connected with Andrew Hopgood, Tim Picard and Angel Santana for touchdowns out of the gate, and Kwity Paye added the other score in the first quarter when he powered his way in from two yards out.
Matt DiTondo added a pick-six in the second quarter, before Kurt Rousseau sprinted in for a 34-yard touchdown run to give Hendricken a 42-0 advantage at the break.
Devin Rivet and Israel Emmanuel each added a rushing touchdown in the second half to make it 56-0.
Senior kicker Ryan Blais was 8-for-8 on extra points in the win.
Hendricken will undoubtedly endure its toughest league test to date on Friday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Providence to take on La Salle.
The Hawks and Rams are the only remaining undefeated teams in Division I with identical 6-0 records, and the two schools have met in the last two Super Bowls.
