Bolster stepping down after 9 years as Centreville Bank president

Raymond J. Bolster II has announced his retirement as president, CEO and chairman of the board of Centreville Bank, effective as of May 1, 2015.

Under Bolster’s leadership, the bank’s capital position has continued to strengthen and grow. Some of his other accomplishments include advancing the bank’s strategic and financial planning processes and a core processor conversion. During his time at the bank, Centreville has grown to serve the entire state of Rhode Island.

“One of the proudest achievements of my Centreville career was the creation of the Centreville Savings Bank Charitable Foundation,” Bolster said in a statement. “The bank continually adds funds to the foundation and this allows us to give back to the community on a grander scale,” he added. In the past this foundation has donated $500,000 to Kent Hospital. Earlier this year, a $250,000 donation was made to South County Hospital’s Campaign for Cancer Care. Many other significant grants are made each year.

First hired as Controller in 1992, Bolster moved up the ranks, being named Treasurer, Executive Vice President and then President in January of 2006. Bolster will continue to serve on the Board of Trustees for Centreville Bank.

Thomas J. Lamb Jr., currently executive vice president and chief operating officer at Centreville Bank, will take over the role of President, CEO and Chairman of the Board upon Bolster’s retirement. Lamb joined Centreville Bank in 2014. He has a long banking career in Rhode Island with more than 21 years of experience at Old Stone Bank and Fleet Financial Group. He also operated his own consulting practice for many years.

“We are very grateful to Ray for his years of service and leadership” said. Lamb. “Under his guidance, our bank has grown to one of the best capitalized banks in the country. We intend to use this position of financial strength to provide even better service and new products for our individual and business customers and position us for future growth,” he added.
