Brewed Awakenings celebrates new location

Posted

On Nov. 15 Brewed Awakenings celebrated the grand opening of its new Warwick location at 1316 Bald Hill Road alongside the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.

The coffee house and café presented a check to the local non-profit, representing funds raised from the sale of special menu items and pink donation ribbons during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. All month long, Brewed Awakenings “went pink” at its Cranston, Warwick, South County and two Johnston locations.

Brewed Awakenings’ support of the Gloria Gemma Foundation does not end there. In collaboration with Jake Kaplan’s Land Rover Warwick, a brand-new fully loaded 2014 Range Rover Evoque will be raffled, with all proceeds after the cost of the vehicle donated to the foundation. The lucky raffle winner will be announced at 4 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Brewed Awakenings’ new Warwick location. Tickets are $50 each and are available for purchase at all Brewed Awakenings locations, Jake Kaplan’s Land Rover Warwick and at the Gloria Gemma Foundation office in Pawtucket.

“Our intention is to raise funds in support of the Gloria Gemma Foundation, as well as to raise awareness about breast cancer,” said David Levesque, owner of Brewed Awakenings. “We’re pleased to once again team up with this local organization and do whatever we can to support its mission.”

Over the past 10 years, the Gloria Gemma Foundation has touched the lives of tens of thousands affected by breast cancer, providing life-changing education, programs and services.

“We’re so grateful for continued support from David and his entire team at Brewed Awakenings,” said Gary Calvino, the director of development for the foundation. “We’re also appreciative of the generosity and commitment from Jake Kaplan’s Land Rover Warwick to our mission of providing education, awareness, and support for those affected by breast cancer in our local communities.”

Levesque gave out gift cards to patrons and spread the word about the raffle at the Nov. 15 event, which was the latest of many involving the Gloria Gemma Foundation. Last year, for example, Brewed Awakenings hosted in-store promotional events for Gloria Gemma’s new Ribbon of Hope license plate, all proceeds from which are donated to the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Women’s Cancer Screening Program to expand free breast cancer screenings to underserved individuals.
