Carnival in Oakland Beach
A community carnival to benefit the Oakland Beach Carousel Foundation and JONAH will be held at the Father O'Hara Field, Oakland Beach Seawall & Commons, Aug. 8-13. Opening at 6 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Free admission and ride specials. On Wednesday and Sunday pay one price and ride from opening to closing. Visit the carousel's booth for discount coupons good for $5 off POP on Wed. and Sun. Great food, games and raffles every day. Warwick Police National Night Out celebration and fireworks on Thursday. No pets allowed at the carnival or National Night Out.

Chamber Block Party
Members of all RI Chambers are invited on Aug. 10 to spend the day on the beach, take a Block Island tour, fly a kite or go shopping. Bring a friend and come prepared to have fun at 1 p.m. cookout at Champlin's Hotel, Marina & Resort. The cost is $26 for adults, $15.50 for children 12 and under. Norwood Neighborhood Association
The Neighborhood Block Party will be held Aug. 11 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Norwood Gazebo on Pawtuxet Ave. There will be live music, grilled food and refreshments at a nominal fee and other surprises. Please bring chairs and blankets. All are welcome.

Bingo
The Friends of Warwick Senior Centers, Inc. will have a bingo Aug. 12 at 27 Pilgrim Parkway at the Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center. Air conditioned and ample parking. Refreshments available for purchase. Doors open at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Fundraiser
Surfers Healing, A Foundation for Autism, will have a Surfin' Supper Aug. 12 from 4-7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 475 Sandy Lane. Food prepared by Paula's Place of Warwick. $10 for adults, $5 for kids, kids 5 and under no charge.

Women's Bowling
A Women's bowling league is looking for new bowlers. The bowl on Monday evenings at 6:30p.m. at the Meadowbrook Lanes on Warwick Ave. The age range is 25-85. Old Warwick Grange #41

The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. Grange where the whole family can go and grow. Help them to help others. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. No meetings in July or August. The Grange hall is located at 1175 West Shore Rd.

Developmental Screening
The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. Free Sunday Lunch
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 389 Greenwich Ave., is offering a free lunch for anyone in need of a meal or companionship. All are welcome every Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. For more information call 737-6758.

Rhode Island Pet Bird Club

Photographic Society of RI

Donate Shop
The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis. They are an all-volunteer organization that relies solely on the support of the community to continue this endeavor. The shop has a new location at 400 Warwick Ave., Unit #14, between Dunkin Donuts and Shaw's. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The phone number is 533-9944, the website is www.thedonateshop.org and “Like” them on Facebook for special updates.

Gambling Counseling Offered

Fife and Drum Corps
The Kentish Guards Fife and Drum Corps rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Kentish Guards Armory on Pierce St. in East Greenwich. Free lessons on playing the fife are provided to men and young men interested in joining the corps.

Fife & Drum Corps
Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
