Eagle Court of Honor
David Goodwin Tibbitts III, 18, of Troop 1 Gaspee Plateau, will be awarded the Eagle Scout Badge, the highest award in Boy Scouts by the Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America at Asbury United Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Drive, Jan. 19. The court of honor will start at noon and be followed with a reception at 1 p.m. at the Warwick Firefighters Hall at 740 Warwick Ave.
Swinging Squares Monthly Dance

Steel Guitar Music

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
The club is one of some 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has some 280,000 members in 116 countries.

Patricia Seltzer, RN, of the city’s Department of Human Services, will be available to administer the flu vaccine to uninsured and underinsured adults over the age of 19 at the Pilgrim Senior Center every Friday in January from 8:30 to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. No appointment is required and, in addition to the flu vaccination, Seltzer will administer pneumonia and “whooping cough” vaccine. Seltzer can also make arrangements for those who can’t make it to the Pilgrim Senior Center on Fridays if they call her at 468-4077.
Fundraiser for Sandy Victims
The Ocean State Parrot Head Club, a non-profit organization, will host a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy victims Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the William Shields Jr. American Legion Post, 662 West Shore Rd. Buffet, entertainments, cash bar, raffles and 50/50. Tickets are $20 per person. Half the cost of the tickets goes directly to Hurricane Sandy Victim Relief Efforts. Domestic Abuse Support Groups
The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The agency offers morning and evening support groups for adults dealing with current or past domestic abuse. Groups provide a safe place to talk with others who have shared similar experiences. The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about community resources. The Donate Shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift store that provides free clothing to families in crisis.
