Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. West Bay Chorale

The West Bay Chorale welcomes new and former members, male and female, all ages. If you like to sing, attend rehearsals at Edgewood Congregational Church, 1788 Broad Street, Cranston, from 7-9:30 p.m. on Monday evenings. No audition necessary. William Shields American Legion

The William Shields Jr. American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #43, will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday,  Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Post Home, 662 West Shore Road. All members are requested to attend.

The Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a Children’s Halloween Party on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Post Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost is $3 per child.  Hot Dogs, punch and chips will be served along with games, prizes and surprises. Tickets are available at the Post or by calling Kathy Johnson at 941-2486. Ticket deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Conimicut Village Association Meets

The Conimicut Village Association will meet Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of Woodbury Union Church (corner of Beach and West Shore). On the agenda will be a discussion of the Oct. 22 workshop for Community Development Block Grant funds and November elections. Community police officers will be there as well as elected officials.  Everyone is welcome; you do not need to be a member to attend. Light refreshments will be available.

Gorton Luncheon

Three Women Artists

Andrea Beall, Janice Sheehan Hodge and J.Marie Hansen invite the public to “Experience Autumn Through Art” Columbus Day weekend Oct. 11, 5-9 p.m. and Oct. 12, 2-6 p.m. The exhibit will be held in the historic village of Chepachet at the Glocester Heritage Society building, 1181 Putnam Pike (Rte. 44). Part of the proceeds will be donated to Glocester Heritage Society.

St. Rita’s Autumn Bazaar

St. Rita’s Women’s Club is having its annual Autumn Bazaar to be held at the church at 722 Oakland Beach Ave. Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be vendors, a penny social, a flea market (weather permitting), raffles, plus lunch will be available.

Yard Sale

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at Atwells Ave./Dean St. in Providence is having a yard sale Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 12-14, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Rental spaces is available $15 per day, $30 for three days. For more information call Donna at 952-5511. Donations are also needed.

Arts & Craft Show

Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad St., Cranston, is having an arts & craft show Oct. 19 from 9 a.m-3 p.m. Featured will be jewelry, knitted items, greeting cards, local art, luncheon served and a baked goods table. There will be raffle items to bid on and a 50/50 raffle throughout the day. Bring a food donation for the Edgewood-Pawtuxet Food Closet and get a raffle ticket for a basket. The grand prize raffle is a week at Sea Mist Resort, Cape Cod, Dec. 1-7.

Pasta Dinner Fundraiser

Warwick National Little League is hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser in loving memory of Donald “Dutch” Dutchover Oct. 18 from 6 p.m.-12 midnight at the Knights of Columbus, 475 Sandy Lane. Dinner featuring pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert will be served until 10:30. There also will be a 50/50, raffles and more. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 kids 5-12, 4 and under eat free. All proceeds go directly to Nicholas Dutchover. For ticket information contact David Palumbo at 345-0400.

SAL Comedy Night

The SAL Comedy Night to be held on Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at William Shields Post #43 will feature a chicken dinner and 50/50 raffle. A $25 donation is requested. Dinner will be served at 7, show starts at 8. Tickets may be purchased at the bar, or call Mel Higgins at 714-2275.

Dancing Cop

Trudeau Memorial Center will present Tony the Dancing Cop in a salute to safety Oct. 18 at 1:15 p.m. in the Patterson Building cafeteria.

Rummage Sale

The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, located on the corner of Peirce and Montrose Streets, will have its Fall rummage sale Oct. 18 from 4-8 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. until noon. The clothes are all sizes and household articles, even small furniture and electrical items, are in very good condition. They will have books, toys, shoes and bags, linens and so much more. 

Turkey Supper

Join Norwood Baptist Church Oct. 19 for their 61st Annual Turkey Supper. Menu includes traditional harvest supper served buffet style with rolls, sliced roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, whipped potatoes, butternut squash, green beans, cranberry sauce, coffee, tea, milk, juice and pie. Adults $10, kids ages 3-10 $4. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Choose from the 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. seating. New England Steel Guitar

New England Steel Guitar Country, Post 15, Main St., East Greenwich, will present the band Branded Oct. 20 from 1-5 p.m.

Neighborhood

A general meeting of the Norwood Neighborhood Association will be held Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. The guest speaker will be Kelly Fredericks, president and CEO of the Airport Corp. He will provide an update on current and future airport construction initiatives leading to the main runway extension.  Also, there will be a police crime update report and a housing-issues-committee-status review. Refreshments and snacks will be served. All are welcome.

SS. Rose & Clement Festival

SS. Rose and Clement Parish, 111 Long St., Warwick, is having a Winter Wonderland Arts and Crafts Festival Oct. 25 from 5-9 p.m. (Special menu and penny social for kids) and Oct. 26 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Featuring crafters from Ocean State Artisans, Christmas and seasonal crafts and gifts, religious good, baked goods,

10th Annual Howloween Bash

The animal shelter will be having its annual Halloween party Oct. 26 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 475 Sandy Lane, Warwick, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 and includes dinner. There will be a DJ, karaoke, dancing, raffles, costume contest and cash bar. Costumes are optional, adults only and no pets. All proceeds benefit shelter animals. Fashion Show

Kent Hospital Auxiliary will hold a fashion show on Oct. 26 at Quidnessett Country Club, North Kingstown. Luncheon will be served at 12 p.m. Fashions are provided by Coldwater Creek and Gown Town. Tickets are $35. Doors open at 11 for shopping from local vendors that have been invited to participate. Raffles and special events will occur throughout the event. This fundraising event will support the Auxiliary’s $1 million pledge to Kent Hospital’s capital campaign and the renovation of the Dialysis Unit/3 North. Daughters

of Isabella

Due to the construction at St. Benedict Parish Center, St. Benedict Circle #423, Daughters of Isabella is postponing their annual Cash Bingo fundraiser that is usually held in September until Nov. 16.
