Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become a member and volunteer. Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Living Hope Christian Church, 730 South County Trail, North Kingstown, will be hosting its annual free Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Dinner will be served between 12-2 p.m. and is open to the public. Join the LHCC family for a home-cooked dinner. Everyone is welcome.  For more information and to let inform that you are attending, contact Pastor Peter Atkin at 667-0775 or email pastorpeter@lhcc.info.

Free Winter Coat Exchange

In observance of Buy Nothing Day, a free winter coat exchange will be held at Woodbury Union Church Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Coats will be collected from those who no longer need them and distributed to those who can use them. Anyone in need of winter wear is welcome. Donations of winter coats, jackets or cold weather vests in all sizes and in good condition are needed. Items may be dropped off at the church on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-12 noon or brought on the day of the exchange. Woodbury Union Church is located on the corner of West Shore Road and Beach Avenue in Conimicut Village. For more information call the church at 737-8232.

Holiday Ornaments Workshop

Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, Warwick, is holding a holiday ornaments workshop on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, from 1-3 p.m. Ages 10 and up will have fun creating personalized holiday ornaments with Warwick artist Taylor Terreri. The workshop is timed so kids are kept busy with a creative activity while adults enjoy a relaxing lunch and shopping in Apponaug Village. Workshop cost is $15 (materials included) and registration is easy by phone with a credit card, or stop by with a check or cash. Registration deadline is Nov. 29 so we have supplies and can include everyone in the fun. The gallery is also open special hours from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for Small Business Saturday. Purchase a gift certificate for gallery artwork, classes, camps, and more in any amount through Dec. 21.

Craft Fair

A Tee’s the Season Craft Fair will be held Nov. 30 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the West Warwick Country Club, 335 Wakefield St., West Warwick. Looking for unique, creative gifts? Shop and support local artisans on Small Business Saturday.

Craft Show

St. Timothy Church of Warwick will hold a craft show Nov. 30 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Monsignor Carlin Center, 1799 Warwick Ave. Most items have been hand-crafted by members of the parish and students in the Religious Education Program. Proceeds will benefit the Faith Formation Program. For more information call the parish at 739-9552.

Free Community Lunch

There will be a free community lunch & food pantry Nov. 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. All are welcome. Please don’t arrive before 11 am. RIPTA #3 Warwick Ave – Hoxsie Four Corners stop at West Shore Nursing Home next to St. Mark’s.

Pasta Dinner

Warwick Memorial Post 272 and Ladies Auxiliary, 840 West Shore Road, Warwick, will be holding a pasta dinner Dec. 7 from 1-4 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person, children 6 and under are $4. Deadline for tickets is Dec. 1.

Chanukah at Warwick Mall

Chanukah at Warwick Mall will be held Dec. 1 at 3:30 p.m. Jewish music by Stan Freedman & Sounds of Simcha. Design your own Lego menorah, sale and gift shop, lighting of the giant Lego menorah, Jon Nelson’s Rockin’ Chanukah Review, latkes and Chanukah gelt.

Classic Christmas

The Rhode Island State Grange Lecturer’s Department invites everyone to a Classic Christmas featuring “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The event will be held Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Oaklawn Grange Hall, 42 Wheelock Ave., Cranston. Admission is two canned goods per person to benefit the Rhode Island State Grange Community Service Department. Bring a comfortable lawn chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy the show. Snacks and beverages will be available for sale. All are welcome to attend.

Tree Lighting

The Apponaug tree lighting will take place Dec. 3 at Dorothy Mayer Park. Santa will arrive by Warwick Fire truck at 6:10 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the St. Barnabas Church basement room (front entrance) with caroling by the Pilgrim High School Chorus. Sponsored by the Apponaug Area Improvement Association.

Chanukah at Pawtuxet Park

Celebrate Chanukah at Pawtuxet Park, Narragansett Parkway and Post Road, Warwick, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. Menorah lighting, Chanukah songs, hot latkes and gelt.

Christmas Luncheon

Christmas and Holiday Celebration

The Norwood Neighborhood Association will host a family-community Christmas and holiday celebration Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys and Girls Club, at 43 Frederick St. There will be live music, holiday snacks and pastries, along with refreshments, plus a few other surprises. All are welcome.

RI Regional Squadron Luncheon

The Rhode ISland Regional Squadron, Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association, Inc. will hold its monthly luncheon at Pinelli’s Deli and Café, 701 Quaker Lane, West Warwick Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. All Air Force veterans are welcome to join for lunch, especially those who served at SAFB. Our Lady of Mercy School will hold its first-ever Holiday Shopping Night and Trunk Show Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m. at OLM School, Fourth Ave., East Greenwich. Join for a fun and festive evening filled with beautiful handmade items and artwork from local crafters and artisans, wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, raffle prizes and more.

Annual Live Jewelry Auction

Rhode Island Family Shelter’s  Annual Live Jewelry Auction will be held Dec. 6 at the Aldrich Mansion, 836 Warwick Neck Ave. Featuring jewelry by David Yurman, Judith Ripka, Alex + Ani, Tiffany, Ippolita, Erwin Pearl, Carolyn Pollack, Rose Gold/Bronze and 24k Gold. $15 minimum donation. Crafting for Critters Craft Fair

Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter is hosting their annual Crafting for Critters Christmas Craft Fair Dec. 7 at the Buttonwoods Community Center, 3027 West Shore Road, Warwick, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Over 40 vendors will be gathered under one roof selling their wares just in time for Christmas. Products for sale include stained glass, Silpada jewelry, tutus for children, handmade chocolates, photography, handmade candles, crafts for animal lovers, handcrafted jewelry, Wildtree herbs, Pampered Chef housewares, baked goods, all natural dog treats, glass block art, clothing, books and more. Admission is free. For more information call 467-2692. Pets are not allowed in this facility, so please leave them at home. Vendor space is sold out. All proceeds will benefit the homeless animals at the Warwick Animal Shelter.

Sparrows Point II Tenants Association

Sparrows Point II Tenants Association is having a jewelry/bake sale Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 777 Cowesett Road, featuring a white elephant and crafts table, just in time for those last minute Christmas gifts.
