West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will present the second lecture of this year, Brown Bag of Drugs: Know What Medications You Are Taking, March 11, at 239 Legris Ave., West Warwick. Learn the importance of your medications, signs and symptoms of concern, and an overview of why your medication has been prescribed for you. Additional pharmaceutical information and handouts will be provided. Speak with a registered pharmacist and have your questions answered. This is a free one-hour lecture. Softball

Registration is now underway for men 57 and over to join the Warwick Senior Softball League. It is a recreational league whose priorities are fun, safety and friendly competition. You do not have to be a Warwick resident to join. All games (double headers) begin at 9 a.m. and are played at City Park in Warwick on Wednesday mornings. The application fee is $20. Deadline for registration is March 15. Pasta Dinner & Silent Auction

Boy Scouts of America, Troop 7 Buttonwoods is holding their 13th Annual pasta dinner and silent auction March 15 at Saints Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick.  Tickets can be purchased at the door, $8 for adults, $6 for children (4-12 years) and children under 4 years old free.  Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Silent auction items include Vera Bradley merchandise, Gamm Theater tickets, Family Night basket, PawSox gift basket, YMCA membership and many more items.

Ocean State Toastmasters Meeting

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting March 18 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has approximately 280,000 members in 116 countries. Ocean State Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Rhode Island. Feeding Thousand of Children

On March 22 hundreds of Rhode Island community members will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between Christ Church and global hunger charity Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), volunteers will prepare 175,000 life-saving meals at an FMSC MobilePack event. The MobilePack will take place March 22 at Advantage Glass, 1560 Elmwood Ave., Cranston. Community members can support this MobilePack by making a donation to cover meal costs or by volunteering to package food at the event. They need to recruit 875 volunteers and raise 22 cents for each meal – $38,500 total – for this MobilePack. Adults and children (K and up) can volunteer on March 22. The Big Skate

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State announced their annual “Big Skate” March 29 from 2-4 p.m. featuring free ice skating, crafts and refreshments. Representatives from the URI hockey team will also be on hand to skate with the kids at the Boss Ice Arena on the URI Kingston Campus. All attendees are encouraged to bring their own skates, as rentals may be limited. Participation in the Big Skate is free; however, an RSVP before March 15 is required. Benefit Concert & Dinner

The Mustard Seed Farm will be hosting a benefit concert and dinner beginning at 6 p.m. on March 29 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston, sponsored by Cat Country to help support  our equine-assisted therapy program. The evening features blues legend, James Montgomery, Dynamic Sounds Unlimited, dinner/appetizer, silent auction, raffles and door prize. The Mustard Seed Farm will be operating a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in East Greenwich that is dedicated to providing equine-assisted therapy for veterans, families and developmentally-challenged children. One of the programs called The Seeds of Courage Program is designed specifically for providing equine-assisted therapy and activities for veterans and emergency responders to support them in personal and professional development. Their programs are designed to challenge, strengthen and enlighten. For tickets call 465-3511. $55 per person, $100 VIP and $25 children 12 and under.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is holding a collection drive for gently used clothing and small household items. Donations help to raise funds to support mentoring programs for boys and girls throughout the state. They offer convenient free home pick-up of donations and provide a tax receipt. East Greenwich Leisure Learning

Do you enjoy learning something new in a fun and friendly environment? East Greenwich Leisure Learning, a membership organization now in its 36th year, welcomes interested adults, regardless of residency, to join them by registering for their upcoming six-week series of 12 lectures and programs. The dates for the spring series are April 3, 10, 24 and May 1, 8 and15, with a morning and afternoon presentation each day. Topics of lectures vary from the practical to the historical, especially Rhode Island history, and anything in between. Programs are held at St. Luke’s Parish House on the corner of Peirce and Church Sts. The registration fee for the series is $15, and members sign up for the entire series. Spring Fling

The Conimicut Village Association Spring Fling is scheduled for April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge 1915 West Shore Road.  The event features a buffet dinner, live music, door prizes, raffle baskets and silent auctions. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased online at www.conimicut.org or by calling 524-8404. This sellout annual fundraiser helps pay for the flowers and flags that adorn Conimicut Village center every summer. No tickets will be sold at the door.
