Ocean State Toastmasters Meeting

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting March 18 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills The organization has approximately 280,000 members in 116 countries Ocean State Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Rhode Island For more information, call Merrill Winoker, vice president for membership, at 688-4741.

Warwick Artist Featured

The opening reception for Art League of RI will be held March 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, Warwick artist Sharon Eisman is among 29 artists featured in the 2014 Associate Members Exhibit of ALRI now on view in the main gallery at WMOA. The opening reception is an excellent opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their technique, tour the exhibit and enjoy light refreshments. All 44 works are available for purchase and mediums include painting, fine art photography, calligraphy and 3D art installation. Buckeye Brook Coalition

Direct Fish Count

Training for the Buckeye Brook Coalition 12th Annual Direct Fish Count provided by R I Fish & Game will be held March 20 from 5-6 p.m. and March 22 from 10-11 a.m. Volunteers for this program are very important It requires very little of your time and helps provide such important data Please consider becoming involved this year It is very educational The training will take place both dates at Warwick Ave , where the brook passes by Park at the Knights of Columbus hall lower parking area Phil Edwards and Patrick Magee with R I Fish & Wildlife will be there to provide a 10-minute training session for the upcoming season

Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter

The monthly meeting for Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will be held March 20 at The Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway (behind Benny’s on Warwick Avenue and near Pilgrim High School) at 6:30 p.m. They will be finalizing plans for their breakfast on April 5 and also the craft fair to be held on May 10. Norwood Neighborhood Association

A general meeting of the Norwood Neighborhood Association will be held March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, 43 Frederick St. The guest speaker will be Mayor Scott Avedisian, who will provide an update on local and statewide activity Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Warwick Figure Skaters Registration

Feeding Thousand of Children

On March 22 hundreds of Rhode Island community members will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between Christ Church and global hunger charity Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), volunteers will prepare 175,000 life-saving meals at an FMSC MobilePack event. The MobilePack will take place March 22 at Advantage Glass, 1560 Elmwood Ave., Cranston Community members can support this MobilePack by making a donation to cover meal costs or by volunteering to package food at the event They need to recruit 875 volunteers and raise 22 cents for each meal $38,500 total for this MobilePack.
