Gaspee Seniors

On April 1 the Gaspee Seniors will be meeting at the Buttonwoods Community Center on 3027 West Shore Road at 1:15 p.m. The program of the day has been changed to bingo; bring your dabber and small bills. New people are welcome. Call Mary Nolan at 941-5507.

East Greenwich Leisure Learning

Do you enjoy learning something new in a fun and friendly environment? East Greenwich Leisure Learning, membership organization now in its 36th year, welcomes interested adults, regardless of residency, to join them by registering for their upcoming six-week series of 12 lectures and programs The dates for the spring series are April 3, 10, 24 and May 1, 8 and15, with morning and afternoon presentation each day. Topics of lectures vary from the practical to the historical, especially Rhode Island history, and anything in between Programs are held at St Luke’s Parish House on the corner of Peirce and Church Sts. The registration fee for the series is $15, and members sign up for the entire series. Pre-registration is required. Those interested may contact the registrar at 828-0978.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross 6:30 p.m. each Friday in Lent, next one April 4 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Rd., Warwick. All are welcome for this moving service recalling Jesus’ final hours.

Bingo

Bingo will be held April 5 at St Kevin’s Church hall, 333 Sandy Lane, starting with a $75 special; the last special is $100 Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6.

Breakfast & Raffle

for Homeless Cats and Dogs

Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will hold its 10th Annual Breakfast & Raffle April 5 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Ave. Enjoy a home cooked breakfast including gently scrambled eggs, french toast, crispy bacon, savory sausage, country home fries, fruit salad, coffee and juice. Take a chance on a raffle featuring a large assortment of great prizes. Tickets by reservation are $10 each and $3 each for children under 6 years old and are available now. Reserve your tickets in advance, to donate a raffle prize or for more information, call 467-2692 or 738-6322. Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, a non-profit 501(c)3 humane organization, will use the proceeds to help the adoptable cats and dogs at the Warwick Animal Shelter. Donations of wet cat and dog food are also appreciated.

Earth Day Cleanup

The Buckeye Brook Coalition 17th Annual Earth Day Cleanup will be held April 5 from 9 a.m.-12 noon (rain date if a washout April 6 1-4 p.m.). Meet at Knights of Columbus Hall lower parking lot before 9 a.m. to register. Volunteers will be assembled into teams with a leader, which will provide guidance to selected sites throughout the watershed for litter pickup. Community Health Fair

A community health fair will be held at Temple Torat Yisrael, 1251 Middle Road, East Greenwich, April 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Wartenberg from Meadows Edge Recovery Center as well as a PowerPoint presentation by the Alzheimer’s Association. Daughters of Isabella

The St. Benedict Circle #423 Daughters of Isabella will hold a monthly business meeting April 7 at 7 p.m. in the parish library. All members are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Ladies Golf League

Harbor Lights Country Club is sponsoring a Tuesday morning league for ladies in a non-competitive style. They will have a signup day April 8 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Buttonwoods Center on West Shore Road. Opening day is the first Tuesday in May and ends Sept 23 with a fun day and banquet. Congestive Heart Failure

West View Nursing and Rehabilitation is presenting their third lecture of the year, Understanding and Managing Congestive Heart Failure, April 8. This free one-hour lecture is being held at 10 a.m. and repeated again at 7 that evening. They will provide a complete understanding of congestive heart failure, how to help manage the disease, and knowledge of the signs and symptoms to understand. Neighborhood Association

A general meeting of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association will be held on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Belize Toyota on Post Rd., Warwick. The meeting will be held in the 2nd floor conference room. They will be providing information on the newly formed neighborhood watch and upcoming events. All are welcome to attend.

Gorton High School Luncheon

The Gorton High School monthly luncheon will be held on April 9 at Chianti’s, 195 Old Forge Road, Warwick, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15. All Gorton High School classmates from 1941-1955 are welcome. Pink Out the Runway

Pink Out the Runway will be held April 11 at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School. Doors open at 5:15 p.m., show begins at 6, featuring a fashion show, vendors, a raffle and a mini bake sale. Tickets are $5, sold at the door or email briannacarbary@yahoo.com. Sponsored by Mens Wearhouse & Tux and David’s Bridal. This is the senior project of Brianna Carbary, and all proceeds will be donated to the Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals.

Spring Fling

The Conimicut Village Association Spring Fling is scheduled for April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge 1915 West Shore Road The event features a buffet dinner, live music, door prizes, raffle baskets and silent auctions. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased online at www.conimicut.org or by calling 524-8404. This sellout annual fundraiser helps pay for the flowers and flags that adorn Conimicut Village center every summer. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Colon Cancer Alliance

The Voices of RI chapter of the Colon Cancer Alliance will hold their next monthly meeting at 10 a.m. April 12 in the small meeting room of the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick.
