Autumn Bazaar

St. Rita’s Church is having an Autumn Bazaar Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the American Legion Post #43, 662 West Shore Road. There will be vendors, raffles, a penny social, a bake sale and lunch will be available. There will also be a flea market (weather permitting).

Car Wash

Saint Kevin’s School’s 8th grade class will be holding a fundraising car wash Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Knights of cClumbus parking lot located at 475 Sandy Lane. Proceeds from this event will go to helping the class defray the cost of their end of year trip. Cars will be $5 and large trucks and vans will be $7. Please help make this a successful event for the kids. The rain date for this event is Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 

Seasons Fall Yard Sale

The Seasons Fall Yard Sale will be held Oct. 4 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Seasons, 5 Saint Elizabeth Way, East Greenwich, across the street from Hilltop Creamery. Breakfast and lunch foods will be available for a nominal charge. Donations of household items, costume jewelry, toys and games, crafts, books, baby items and furniture (excluding mattresses and anything with a cushion) are being accepted. Tables are available for $25 for those wishing to sell their own “treasures”; you keep your proceeds. Call 884-9099 to rent your table or to arrange to drop off your donations.

Ham and Bean Supper

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick, is holding a ham & bean supper Oct. 4 serving at 6 p.m. Menu items are ham, homemade beans, brown bread and cole slaw, assorted desserts and hot and cold beverages. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at the church office between 9 a.m. and 12 noon, Monday through Thursday. Call 737-3127. The church is handicapped accessible.

Silent Auction

The Pet Refuge, a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located at 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown, is holding their 8th Annual Silent Auction Oct. 4 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Cold Spring Community Center, 30 Beach Street, Wickford. Offered for bidding are many collectibles, artwork, gift certificates, gift baskets, gifts, jewelry, handmade items and many more great silent auction items. There will also be a raffle table with many wonderful prizes. Admission is free. Make it a great night out and enjoy a wonderful buffet with delicious food, including beverages and desserts for $12 per person. Children under 12 - $5. Bingo

Bingo will be held Oct. 4 at St. Kevin’s Church hall, 333 Sandy Lane. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6 with a $75 special; last special is $100.

Pink Party Fundraiser

The 2nd annual Pink Party will be held Oct. 4 at the East Greenwich Armory, 6 Main St., at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). The event features food and drink provided by Twisted Pizza, music by DJ Teddy Rock-Spin, door prizes, tons of raffles, silent auctions, a live jewelry auction and a special fashion show featuring “survivor” models modeling fashions from a few East Greenwich clothing vendors. Ocean State Toastmasters

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting Oct. 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. Flu Clinic

Halloween Party

Asbury Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Dr., will have a Halloween party Oct. 11 from 2-4 p.m. with games, prizes and refreshments. Golf Tournament

Team Tucker is holding a Pawtucket Relay for Life Fundraiser 1st Annual Golf Tournament June 1, 2015. They are looking for tee sponsors and players. Conimicut Village Hunger Walk

The 2014 West Bay CROP Hunger Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 in Conimicut Village. Hundreds of participants and teams from around the state will walk a three-mile course through the village and down around the Point to raise money for and awareness of those who go hungry in the U.S. and around the world. Church of Transfiguration Craft Fair & Holiday Bazaar

The Church of the Transfiguration will host its annual Craft Fair and Holiday Bazaar on Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature New England crafters on site, a 50/50 raffle all day, with the drawing at 3 p.m. Purchase tickets for selected baskets; every basket will have a gift card. Tables will have jewelry, knit goods, local art, baked goods and lunch items for purchase. Bring can goods for the Edgewood-Pawtuxet Food Closet and receive a raffle ticket for selected baskets. There will be an expanded location for a Penny Social and Winter Thrift Sale of clothing and house wares. The Raffle grand prizes are a one-week stay at the Sea Mist Resort on Cape Cod in November 2015 and a one-week stay at the Cold Spring Resort in New Hampshire in August 2015. Toast the Arts in Warwick

New England Steel Guitar

R.I. Open Juried Exhibit

Warwick artists showcased in the eagerly-anticipated 28th Annual RI Open Juried Exhibit, to be held Oct. 25, include calligrapher Sharon D. Eisman, digital artist Krzystof Mathews, painters Robin Beckwith, Barbara Canning and Joan Edge and photographers Barbara DeCesare, Keith Jochim, Jennifer Reardon Magil, Chris St. Pierre and Louise St. Pierre. The exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with free parking behind Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. The Variety Show

Trudeau Memorial Center welcomes back Bill Burke in The Variety Show Nov. 4 at 1:15 p.m. in the Patterson building cafeteria. Greenwood Community Church Anniversary

On Nov. 16 Greenwood Community Church Presbyterian will celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding at the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Usually Greenwood has two worship services on Sundays, but on Nov. 16 there is just one service of worship. Any and all people are invited to this worship service; you need not be members, as all are welcome to attend this special anniversary celebration.

Meadowbrook Bingo

Moms RI

Support a new mother, share your experience and make a new friend. You can make a difference with just on hour a week. Moms for Moms RI helps pregnant women and new mothers deal with an enormous transition by matching them with trained volunteers who are mothers themselves. The program provides emotional and social support and strives to connect new moms to resources within their own communities. Mentors develop a warm, supportive relationship while spending time with the new mom in their homes, accompanying them on outings, and attending mom gatherings. Aphasia Conversation Group

On the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m., Sargent Rehabilitation Center, 800 Quaker Lane, Warwick, holds an aphasia conversation group. This group provides a supportive meeting place for people with aphasia to socialize and share their communication challenges and strategies. There is no charge for participation. Fife & Drum Corps

Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. Evening Counseling Available

If you are experiencing depression, anxiety or overwhelming stress coupled with an addiction to or dependence on drugs or alcohol, then The Kent Center’s new evening program may be right for you. The Kent Center is offering an intensive outpatient program for people battling co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Program hours are 4:40-8 p.m., making it accessible for people who work. Help for Victims of Crime

Are you a victim of physical or sexual assault, domestic violence, untreated childhood abuse, or another crime or traumatic event? Are you experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, increased substance use or other emotional difficulties? Volunteers Needed to Sew

Looking for something to do to help foster kids? Organizers of The Sewing Project to Help Foster Kids are looking for volunteers who want to help sew pillowcase or duffel bags for foster children. Currently their belongings are sometimes put in black trash bags. Foster parent Adriane Grimaldi in Scottsdale, Ariz. started the Sewing Project in February 2008 for children taken from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS) to make kid-friendly bags for carrying their belongings instead of trash bags. To date, people have made 6,700 pillowcase bags for foster kids Pillowcase bags are delivered to CPS to use instead of trash bags. The Sewing Project has opened a new Rhode Island Chapter working with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and is in need of volunteers to sew. Cornerstone Church

Domestic Abuse Support Groups

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The agency offers morning and evening support groups for adults dealing with current or past domestic abuse Groups provide a safe place to talk with others who have shared similar experiences. The groups are confidential and free of charge. For more information call Jessica at 738-1700.

Free Health Care

Our Lady of Fatima Hospital has an outreach coordinator to assist women in getting free health care If you are between the ages of 40-64 and are underserved or uninsured, call Maria at 456-3105 for a confidential assessment. You may be eligible for free care including mammogram and gynecological care.

Old Warwick Grange #41

The Grange is a fraternal community service, non-profit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values Grange where the whole family can go and grow Help them to help others The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. No meetings in July or August. The Grange hall is located at 1175 West Shore Rd.

Developmental Screening

The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child’s development and offers information about community resources. For more information, or to arrange a clinic appointment for your preschool aged child, call the VOWS office at 734-3230.
