Tri-City Elks

Bingo Dec. 19, starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Kitchen will be open. Bring your friends.

Warwick Scrapbooking Rally Group

The Warwick Scrapbooking Rally Group for beginner and experienced scrappers, meets the third Saturday of each month in the Idea Studio at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The next meeting is on Dec. 20. The meeting is free and open to all. They will also be holding the second holiday scrapbooking instructional class from 10-11 a.m. Come learn a new skill and have fun. Basic supplies will be provided. Participants need only to bring an assortment of pictures (6-12) for the project. Hoxsie Dry Cleaners Events

Hoxsie Dry Cleaners, 1080 Warwick Ave., is accepting coats of all sizes for donation through Dec. 20. They will clean them at no charge and then donate them to local charities.

On the Street Photography Show

Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, presents “On the Street” Photography Show & Sale now to Dec. 20 and January 5-10. Just in time for holiday shopping, the annual photography show features Warwick artists Mark Cheney, David Fleurant, Janet Moscarello, Rachel Simone, and Louise St. Pierre. Most items are priced from $5 to $300 and a portion of each sale benefits WMOA and its mission of connecting all ages to the arts. Also on display are 24 replica Rhode Island State Tree Ornaments created by Warwick youth for the National Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C. The exhibit and reception are open to the public and donations will be gratefully accepted in the gallery. Community Lunch & Food Pantry

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick, is having a free community lunch & food pantry Dec. 27 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. 

New England Steel Guitar

New England Steel Guitar will meet Dec. 28 at Post 15, Main St., East Greenwich, from 1-5 p.m. The band will be Snakebite.

Hi-Lo-Jack League

The Warwick Hi-Lo-Jack League is starting its new session Dec. 29 at Buttonwoods Senior Center on West Shore Road. This is a senior fun league. Two dollars is collected at the door plus 10-cent ups. Every cent goes back to the players, and they have a banquet at the end of the session. If you are interested in joining, call Ray Walsh at 497-8097.

The Youth Department of the Rhode Island State Grange will be holding its second event of the season Jan. 4, 2015 for the Winter Lights at Lasalette Shrine, 947 Park Avenue in Attleboro, Mass. The group will be meeting outside of the Memorial Candle Pavilion at 4:30 p.m., in hopes that they will be there when they will turn the lights on. There is no fee for this event and parking is free. All are invited to attend, so bring family and friends. Please note that this is the last day for the

Square Dance Workshops

Swinging Squares of RI is offering square dance workshops Monday nights, Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 7-9:30 p.m. at the East Smithfield Neighborhood Center, 7 Esmond Street, Smithfield. Fee is $6 per person. Caller is Bob Butler, cuer is Pat Anthony.

In addition, they are holding their monthly square dance Jan. 17 from 8-10:30 p.m. at the East Smithfield Neighborhood Center. Fee is $7 per person. Caller will be Dave Perrault, cuer Pat Anthony. Retirees Association

A wonderful time was had by all at the Christmas Luncheon. The room was filled to capacity with good friends, good food, laughter and joy. Their next meeting in December is cancelled, but they’ll see you Jan. 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Senior Center. Mayor Avedesian will be our guest speaker. 3 Card Mel

William Shields #43, 662 West Shore Road, will have 3 Card Mel (a variation of the winter meat raffle) every Friday night at 7 p.m. There will be no raffle on Jan. 23, raffle resumes on Jan. 30. Everyone is welcome.

Young Men’s Choral Festival

All high school and mature middle school males of the New England area are invited to participate in the annual Young Men’s Choral Festival (YMCF), sponsored by Providence Singers, Rhode Island College, Bishop Hendricken School and Warwick Vets High School. YMCF is full-day event of choral workshops (vocal, movement and rhythm) ending with a closing concert and reception Jan. 30, 2015 from 1-8 p.m. on the campus of Rhode Island College. This year’s clinician is the Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University, Andrew Clark. Registration deadline is Jan. 9. Tuition is $20 (includes sheet music, t-shirt, food and necessary supplies). The closing concert is free and open to the public. Art Supplies Needed

to Help People with Mental Illness

The Kent Center would greatly appreciate donations of used or new art supplies to stock art classes for youths, teens and adults who struggle with mental illness. Creating art reduces stress, anxiety, fears and depression in people with mental illness and raises a person’s quality of life. The Center, which helps 4,000 Rhode Islanders with mental illness each year, is in constant need of art supply donations such as crayons, markers, watercolors, acrylic paint, construction paper, pipe cleaners, fabric, buttons, coloring books, etc. Contact Sarah Channing at 738-1338 x335 for more information, or drop off tax-deductible donations at 2756 Post Road, Warwick.

Moms RI

Support a new mother, share your experience and make a new friend. You can make a difference with just on hour a week. Moms for Moms RI helps pregnant women and new mothers deal with an enormous transition by matching them with trained volunteers who are mothers themselves. The program provides emotional and social support and strives to connect new moms to resources within their own communities. Mentors develop a warm, supportive relationship while spending time with the new mom in their homes, accompanying them on outings, and attending mom gatherings. Aphasia Conversation Group

On the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m., Sargent Rehabilitation Center, 800 Quaker Lane, Warwick, holds an aphasia conversation group. This group provides a supportive meeting place for people with aphasia to socialize and share their communication challenges and strategies. There is no charge for participation. Fife & Drum Corps

Join the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife & Drum Corps of Warwick and continue the great tradition of Colonial/Revolutionary history through music. The Fife & Drum Corps meets every Wednesday night at Wyman Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m. The corps is open to anyone over the age of 12. Drum and fife instruction is available to beginners.
