Rhode Island Mall is set to get a new store this Friday.

“We are thrilled to open a new Burlington Coat Factory in the Warwick community, bringing even more jobs to the neighborhood and providing local residents with a valued shopping experience,” said Burlington Stores chairman and CEO Tom Kingsbury in a release.

Approximately 75 associates were hired to work in the new 55,000-square-foot store. Its regular business hours will be Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Residents are invited to stop by the grand opening Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting and an inaugural day of shopping.

On Saturday, the festivities continue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families are invited for face painting, popcorn and gift card giveaway opportunities. The first 500 customers to visit will receive a free Burlington tote.

Burlington will also host two philanthropic initiatives at its celebration. Burlington Gives Back, in partnership with K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, will donate new merchandise to Comprehensive Community Action Program, a locally-based program that “provides quality health and human services to support and empower individuals and families.” The store has also partnered with DonorsChoose.org to fund local school projects submitted by public school teachers. It will continue to support other causes, like The Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk, and Women’s Heart Health, throughout the year.

Warwick City Councilman Joseph Gallucci said he’s happy to see the expansion of Warwick’s retail base.

“It’s a welcome addition to that part of the city, and I think it will be very successful,” he said.

The core to the mall with Sears and Walmart as bookends has been vacant for years. Once home of scores of stores, owners of the mall, MCB Real Estate, aim to convert the mall into several large retail stores.
