3heARTS Productions will be presenting their holiday show, “Carol’s Christmas” by Shannon McLoud and Charles Dickens, at Bishop Hendricken High School Dec. 21 and 22. The show is a new family-friendly retelling of Dickens’s classic “Christmas Carol,” which will tell the “true” story of how this holiday classic came to be. The author promises even “jolly Ol’ St. Nick” will make an appearance and that many Warwick students have gotten in on the action this year, from stagehands to performers.
“When I asked one of our stagehands if there was a community service form I needed to fill out for his hours, he let me know that his hours were done and he was just volunteering. Let me tell you, the job of stagehand is not a glamorous one,” McLoud said, adding the spirit of volunteerism did not end with students. “We have seasoned actors lending a hand again this year, all people with other full-time jobs.”
McLoud said Hendricken’s math department chair, Tom Morey, is reprising his role as Charles Dickens this year.
“It’s a true testament to Tom’s spirit. Not only is he very busy, but so many students from Hendricken have volunteered because Mr. Morey is involved,” McLoud said.
All ticket proceeds will benefit the Rhode Island Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Huntington’s Disease is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder for which there is presently no cure.
“We thought of donating the funds this year to HD because of my father,” said McLoud. “He died last year from HD, and he would have loved this show. Last year, we donated the money we raised to a local hospital and raised $2,700. We’re hoping to at least match that this year.”
The show runs Dec. 21 and 22, with both showings at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. For reservations, call 206-6604, or go to 3heART Productions’ Facebook page, www.
