The Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce (CRIC) now has a tradition unlike any other of its successful events.

Although less than two-dozen motorcycles – and no classic cars – turned out Sept. 7, CRIC officials were happy that their unique Twisted Puzzle Run got off the ground and will become part of the non-profit’s annual schedule.

The event was open to motorcycle and classic car owners who could register at one of two locations: Warwick Mall or Wakefield Mall in South Kingstown. Each vehicle could have one or two people who were given a list of 10 locations – replete with clues – that they could visit to try and rack up points playing what Chamber President/CEO Lauren Slocum described as “a unique game of Rhode Island.” One example of the 10 different puzzle pieces was, “Remember where the former Sholes Roller Skating Rink was and what is there now that’s also not part of the [site].” The answer was the award-winning Hampton Inn & Suites that’s located at 2100 Post Road in Warwick. The second part to the query was that event organizers placed Flamingos in front of the hotel.

Slocum, who manned the Warwick Mall check-in location with Chamber official Denise Drouin, said, “The people who did participate had lots of fun and really enjoyed the hospitality and barbecue of Twisted Throttle Ltd in Exeter. They were our main sponsor and really went all out to promote what next year will be a great event.”
