Cherry Hill Manor celebrates season with special events

There was a country fair and carnival atmosphere in and around Cherry Hill Manor last Thursday.

In fact, activity director Tracey Arpin and marketing director Lorraine DiLorenzo cooked up quite a few palate pleasers for one of two the events that met with approval from all the residents and staffers who took part.

“Who doesn’t love doughboys?” Arpin asked with a smile. “Of course, we all love doughboys, so I decided to cook and serve them to our residents, who absolutely love being outdoors on the patio.”

Arpin did more than initiate the doughboy delivery, as she brought in disc jockey Eddy to play musical requests and old-time Italian tunes that brought back many memories for the attending Cherry Hill Manor residents.

“The doughboy event was a huge hit,” Arpin said. “We made – and served – a total of 126 doughboys and offered our residents a choice of cinnamon sugar or powered sugar as toppings.”

Doughboys and music weren’t the only offerings last Thursday.

In keeping with tradition, Arpin launched the Manor’s annual Summer Concert Series, with entertainer/singer Steve Burke performing.

“Steve had some of our residents playing the cowbell and tambourines,” Arpin said. “He is so up beat and full of energy, and the residents really love him here.”

Ice cream sundaes and ice cream sandwiches were served during the concert.

“I think our residents slept like babies during the night,” Arpin said with a laugh.

Once the concert was over, Arpin added: “We have some other fun stuff up our sleeves for the month of August. Of course, our concert series will continue, and we’ll treat our residents to a number of special events.”
