Christmas village raised $1,000

To the Editor:

This past holiday season, I put up my mini Christmas village in Governor Francis Farms and it was a good year. I raised $1,000 for Ronald McDonald House and A Wish Come True, here in Warwick.

I wish to thank the students of the Pilgrim High community service class, the Warwick Beacon and Channel 10 for the great stories; and when Santa came on Saturday night; the donations from Ed Duckworth from the coffee grinder, Rose and Steve from Lefavorite Bakery and Jimmy from Palazzo’s Deli, all of which braved the cold and passed out cookies, hot chocolate and sandwiches to all the visitors. A special thanks to the girls at the bakery for their help decorating.

The 2012 village will big bigger and better. Lastly, I want to thank all folks who braved Squantum Drive, or I call it Squantum Speedway – Home of the SUV Time Trials – a little humor. Hope to see everyone next season.
