City and Town Chairs group endorses Langevin for re-election

U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin has received the backing of the Rhode Island Association of City and Town Chairs in his re-election bid.

“Jim Langevin is one of the most accessible and responsive leaders I know. He is plugged in to all of the communities he represents, and is eager to reach out and learn more about the challenges and opportunities we face at the local level,” Mike Burk, the association’s president, said through a statement. “It is great to know we can count on Jim for advice, support, and assistance, which in turn helps us to better serve our own constituents. Jim is always there for us, and we are proud to return the support as he runs for re-election.”

“Representing every corner of the state, the Association of City and Town Chairs is made up of community leaders who form the foundation of our great state. They work hard, day in and day out, to improve quality of life and serve constituents in every city and town, and their endorsement is invaluable to me,” Langevin said through the statement. “Thank you to President Burk and the entire Association for your support, and I am eager to work with all of your members to move Rhode Island forward.”

Langevin, a Democrat, has represented the Second Congressional District since 2000, and previously served as a state representative and secretary of state. He has also received the endorsement of Democratic Town Committees in Johnston, Burrillville, and East Greenwich, and from the AFL-CIO.

Langevin faces a potential primary challenge from Steve Archer of Warwick.
