City fireworks display set for Friday at Oakland Beach

Posted

The city’s annual fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day will be held this Friday, July 3, at the Oakland Beach seawall, the office of Mayor Scott Avedisian announced yesterday.

Fireworks will begin at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.); however, due to the heavy volume of traffic and number of spectators expected, people are encouraged to arrive early and to expect traffic delays.

Parking will be limited in some areas of Oakland Beach, and signs designating no parking zones will be posted. Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.

Residents are advised that the fireworks display can also be viewed from City Park (on Asylum Road off Buttonwoods Avenue), which offers fantastic, unobstructed views of the display along the shoreline. Traffic details will be on site at that location as well.

The rain date is July 5. For updates regarding show cancellations due to rain, please call City Hall at 738-2000, or visit the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development’s Facebook page at www/facebook.com/warwickri. Additional information can also be found at that site and on the city’s website, www.warwickri.gov.
