Clam Shack owner has reward for arrest of masked vandal

Posted

Tommy Patrick, owner of Tommy’s World Famous Clam Shack, isn’t as happy as a clam at high tide after his local establishment was recently vandalized.

“I’m mad, because we’re having probably our best year yet,” said Patrick of the vandalism. “Our regular customers are mad that someone would even consider doing something like this to us. People do not like what happened at all, they like our place.”

On July 1 at around 10:20 p.m. a car parked across the street from the Warwick Avenue establishment at the Mizu Japanese Steakhouse. As evidenced by video camera surveillance, a man exited the vehicle, donned a white Halloween mask, crossed Warwick Avenue and proceeded to throw a can of blue paint all over the restaurant’s signs, awnings, soda machines and concrete walkways.

The damage was discovered by store employees the following morning, and the police were called to take a report.

“We tried to take some of it off yesterday, and it was a holiday weekend and we were busy, some of it came off of the plastic, and we tried to power wash it and it didn’t work,” said Patrick. “So we may try to clean it with chemicals, I don’t know what we’re going to do, and I don’t have an estimate yet as to what it will cost to repair.”

Patrick, who takes personal pride in the clam shack’s appearance and landscaping, states that the vandalism hasn’t stopped him or his crew, and the restaurant is open for business as usual. But he is taking action to bring the vandal to justice.

“Maybe some neighbor saw someone running around with a mask that day, and may recognize the car,” said Patrick. “That’s what I’m looking for, because I want to give a $2,000 reward for the person’s arrest and conviction. This guy really hurt us, and I’m mad, he had some nerve to do this. It’s really sad we have people like this in the neighborhood.”

While there are currently no suspects, those with any information may contact the Warwick Police Department at 732-8477.

His vehicle narrows down the search- he drives a Chevrolet Teletubby Hearse, also known as an HHR (could be an acronym for "Handicapped and/or Height-Restricted"). He may as well be driving a Model T if he's trying to keep a low profile- not too many of these on the road.

Something smells fishy here. But don't stew about it. If the cops catch him, he'll probably clam up anyway. I could go on.

I hope they catch that bast****. Tommy's is a great spot for great food that's fast and fresh. I have been there dozens of times and it is always immaculate. Now we have this ugly paint splattering to look at. Not fair! We should all frequent Tommy's Clam Shack to show our support and to help fund his repairs. And WHEN they catch the guy in the picture he should have to do 1,000 hours of community service washing dishes at Tommy's.

    THAT would be fair.

I have another idea. Let's all meet at the Clam Shack Saturday July 16th at 2 P.M. I'll buy!

It was probably someone butthurt from Iggys or (I would think Iggys has more class), the ever failing and nasty rocky point place. (aka plankton)
