The Warwick School Committee is expected to consider a two-year contract with Council 94, WISE Union, Local 357 in an executive session this evening at the school administration building. The meeting starts at 5:30.
Efforts to determine whether the union membership, which numbers about 400 non-teacher employees, voted on the tentative agreement on Sunday, as rumored, could not be substantiated.
Also, acting Superintendent Richard D’Agosinto refused yesterday to clarify whether a union vote would come before or after the committee’s vote.
He provided no further information than what was released last week.
That release said the parties had reached a tentative agreement for 2013-2015. The current contract expires in August of this year.
“Without disclosing the details of the Agreement, the parties believe that it signifies a new era of positive and productive labor relations. At the same time, it reflects an attempt by the parties to responsibly address the serious budget problems that have been caused by the drastic reduction in available revenue for public education. Further details of the settlement will not be disclosed until after both sides have ratified the Agreement,” reads the release.
Mary Townsend, president of WISE Union, Local 357, said she would comment following tonight’s meeting.
