To the Editor:

Headlines in the Providence Journal today proclaimed “Confusion reigns at city hall as taxpayers boil over bills.”
In 2011, my wife’s 2006 Ford Fusion was valued at $10,000 with $6,000 deducted for being a senior citizen and a $500 state deduction. This year, the car was valued at $2,000 after $6,000 was deducted for being a senior citizen and a $2,000 state deduction. In other words, the car did not decrease in value since last year.
The Journal article was right. I am really confused, but not as much as the tax assessor’s office.

I'm still paying tax on a 14 year old truck that is worth 2,000 if in excellent condition. What a state.
