Nostalchic Consignment shop closing Saturday

Nostalchic Consignment & Gifts will soon be a memory in Conimicut Village. The store, which has been in business for four years, is closing on Saturday. Prices have been reduced for the final week.

Partners Ginny Barham, Karen Oliver Legg and Bev Cottam, who are all board members for the Conimicut Village Association, opened the store in 2009, hoping to be part of a resurgence of business in the Village. But while the store developed a strong group of loyal customers, it wasn’t enough.

“It breaks our hearts to close Nostalchic,” co-owner Ginny Barham said. “We have met so many wonderful people and have enjoyed every minute of being part of the village business climate.”

Barham will be moving some of her inventory to the Rhode Island Antique Mall in Pawtucket; Oliver Legg is in the process of finding a new venue for her handcrafted jewelry; and Cottam is moving on to new adventures. Building owner Paul Tremblay has plans to renovate the interior of the storefront, while Papi’s Tacos, located adjacent to the shop, will expand into a portion of the space currently occupied by Nostalchic. The remainder of space is available for lease.

Nostalchic is located at 752 West Shore Road and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The trio of women invite everyone to stop in to take advantage of the fantastic sale prices and to say goodbye.
