Playing in the Intermediate 50/70 East Regional Tournament in Commack and Dix Hills, N.Y., the Rhode Island team – which features of a number of players from Warwick Continental – is off to a strong start.
Rhode Island took on the host Commack team on Saturday and earned a 9-6 victory. The win looks stronger moving forward, as Commack went on to win its next game, on Sunday, 14-2 over Delaware.
At 1-0, Rhode Island is one of two unbeaten teams, along with Pennsylvania, in Pool A. Its next game was scheduled for Monday against Pennsylvania, with the results unavailable at press time. Rhode Island was also scheduled to take on Delaware today at 2 p.m.On Wednesday, Rhode Island will close out pool play with a game against Massachusetts.
