Cummiskey named to All-LEC Second Team

Warwick’s Dylan Cummiskey is one of four Rhode Island College baseball players who were honored this week by the Little East Conference.

Cummiskey, the ace of the Anchormen’s pitching staff, was named All-LEC Second Team as a pitcher. The other RIC players honored were: junior catcher Matt Foley, first team; freshman second baseman Shaun Vigeant, second team; and freshman centerfielder Brad Douglas, Co-Rookie of the Year.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 185-pound Cummiskey appeared in eight games and started all of those LEC contests. The former Toll Gate 2010 graduate and Titan All-Stater compiled a sparkling 6-1 record with 40 strikeouts in 54 innings.

Cummiskey hurled three complete games for head coach Scott Virgulak’s Anchormen and ranked first on the team and fourth in the LEC in ERA (2.65).

His six wins figured prominently in RIC’s 2015 season, as the Anchormen finished the spring campaign with a 21-13 overall record and were second in the LEC at 9-5.

In 20-14, Cummiskey appeared in 11 games, starting eight. He was 2-4 with 28 strikeouts and a 6.50 ERA in 44.1 innings. In his sophomore season, the one-time Titan standout appeared in 12 games, starting only four and finishing with 27 strikeouts and a 5.35 ERA.

Likewise, Cummiskey pitched in 11 games in his rookie season at RIC and went 3-2 with a 7.50 ERA.
