Daniel M. Sullivan, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016 in Raleigh, NC. He was beloved husband of 64 years to the late Maxine M. (Kennedy) Sullivan. Words cannot express how deeply they are missed.

Born in West Barnstable, MA, he was the son of the late Daniel M. and Dorothy M. (Gonsalves) Sullivan. Dan was educated at Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket and Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA. He was also a Staff Sergeant in the United State Marine Corps. Dan had a long career, retiring from the United States Post Office in Providence. After his “first” retirement from the post office, Dan fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a real estate agent and joined Real Estate One, Ltd; finally retiring from Carma Real Estate, East Greenwich in the fall of 2014. Dan relocated to Raleigh, NC in the summer of 2015 to be near his daughter and son-in-law. He enjoyed his new city; visiting the library, attending mass, and planting the summer vegetable garden.

Dan was devoted father to Mark Thomas Sullivan of Providence, Margaret M. (Sullivan) Wilson of Raleigh, NC and the late Daniel M. Sullivan, III; father-in-law to Mark D. Wilson of Raleigh, NC and Thelma Sullivan of Charleston, SC; and loving grandfather to Samantha A. Sullivan, Christal R. Bouyssou and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Daniel Robert (“Bob”) Sullivan and Thomas Morris Sullivan.

His funeral will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict, Beach Ave. at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 p.m.
