Debate watch party planned by Democrats & LGBTQ Oct. 13

Representative Joseph M. McNamara, chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party, and Anthony DeRose, chair of its LGBTQ Caucus, will co-host a Debate Watch of the 1st Democratic Presidential Debate on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. The watch party will be held at Mirabar, at 15 Elbow Street, Providence, with on- and off-street parking available.

The debate is hosted by CNN and will air at 9 p.m. It is the first of six Democratic National Committee (D.N.C.) sanctioned debates for the five Democratic presidential contenders: former R.I. Governor Lincoln Chafee, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and former U.S. Senator Jim Webb. 

The event is also supported by the state party’s other Democratic caucuses, including the Latino, African American, Women, Youth, Asian American and Pacific Islander, People with Disabilities and Native American (several are still in formation). 

Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) is expected to serve as a Northeast surrogate for the D.N.C. For more information about the watch party, call 272-3367.
