Delta Dental of Rhode Island, the state’s largest dental insurer, has named three new directors to its corporate staff. Katharine Brock of Warwick has been named Director of Government Programs; Dara Chadwick, who worked as an editor for Beacon Communications, has been named Director of Corporate Communications; and Keith Whitt has been named Director of Sales.

As Director of Government Programs, Brock will direct the development and administration of government and public programs, including health care exchanges, Medicaid and RIte Smiles, and will monitor and evaluate government policies, as well as oversee analysis of enrollment, claims and revenue trends within products. Brock, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Vermont, most recently worked for Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 1199NE, which represents health care workers throughout Rhode Island. She was previously a Policy Analyst and Legislative Liaison in the office of Governor Lincoln D. Chafee and served as Executive Director of Ocean State Action, where she built and managed coalitions of diverse stakeholders to advance shared public policy objectives.

Chadwick will oversee all aspects of Delta Dental’s communications programs in her role as Director of Corporate Communications, including marketing, advertising, media relations, public relations and internal communications, and will work to promote the company’s dental lines and to strengthen Delta Dental’s corporate brands. Chadwick, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from Syracuse University, most recently served as Chief of Strategic Communications and Media Relations for HealthSource RI. She previously served as the Chief Office of Health Promotion for the Rhode Island Department of Health and worked as a freelance magazine journalist. At Beacon Communications she edited Prime Time magazine and Chamber Works as well as reporting stories for the Warwick Beacon and the Cranston Herald.

As Director of Sales, Whitt will manage the Delta Dental of Rhode Island sales department, as well as key accounts. An experienced sales and marketing manager in the benefits and retirement plan industry, Whitt previously worked with the Principal Financial Group and Principal Life Insurance Company. He also spent a decade running Excelsior Benefits LLC, a Principal “spin off” company, representing health and welfare and group ancillary benefits to and through retail brokers and their customers. He earned a B.S. degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
