Demands senator’s resignation

Posted

To the Editor:

There is more to being a legislator than most candidates know and that many state senators and representatives have ignored and forgotten.

They have an oath and vows that they swear to and commit themselves to the taxpayers of Warwick, the State of Rhode Island and the United States of America.

“Oath of General Office – Section 3” You Will “Faithfully and Impartially” Discharge all the Duties of Your Office, SO HELP YOU GOD!” Upon the Peril of Penalty of Perjury.

“Ethics Conduct – Section 7” Respect the Public Trust and the Rights of all Persons, be Open, Accountable and Responsive, Avoid the Appearance of Impropriety and Not Use Their Position for Private Gain or Advantage.

They shall “hold their position” during good behavior!

Voters must ask themselves, does my state senator and state representative honor their oath of office and ethical conduct?

Only those legislators serving honorably have the right to hold their office.

At this time, I, Ron Loparto, of Warwick, demand the resignation of State Senator Michael McCaffrey for failure of his oath of office and ethical conduct and behavior against his constituency.

Taxpayers throughout Rhode Island must take a closer look at their own state senator and state representative in the upcoming election.

Ron Loparto

Independent State

Senate Candidate

District 29-Warwick

Mr. Loparto: Perhaps you could connect the dots and be a tad more specific as most readers of this space haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about, other than you're running against Sen. McCaffrey.

Mr. Stark and readers, When you are part of the failed leadership, You can not be impartial, you Obey! As we saw when the Taxpayers and Small Business cried out for No Truck Tolls! McCaffrey Can not, Does Not and Never has, Voted for the Wants Needs and the Concerns of his constituency. You don't become a Chairman of committee without Total compliance. He has built a million dollar law office on the backs of the Taxpayers, for almost quarter a century handing out millions of dollars of all Rhode Islanders hard earned tax dollars, just to his friends and choices. When the Providence Journal and all media said this Leadership McCaffrey and all of them are Thieves, Farces and Frauds! When he makes his own family members Judges! When Sen O'Neill said We don't even have to come to work, They know the Vote! That's a fix, criminal. Rhode Island is rated the Worst State in America, business, economy, infrastructure 25 yrs of McCaffrey and this failed leadership has put us there. McCaffrey gives all our tax dollars to Special Interest, family, friends, Insiders and the select few. No Politics just facts and this isn't the tip of the iceburg. This is not Leadership or Representation. Time for Change.

Mr. Loparto: I do not know the senator, nor have I ever voted for him. And I agree that, when you look up the word "Corruption" in the dictionary there is a map of Rhode Island. I used to think this would change as a function of a citizen revolt. That will not happen as long as 1 in 6 adults in the state is on a public payroll. And if you are not on a public payroll, a close member of your family is. This creates considerable electoral might. None of this, none of it, will change until there is a fundamental change in RI's tax structure. Too much money flows to Smith Hill for pols to do with it what they will. In exchange for all these tax dollars, Rhode Islanders receive deplorable public services and a regional reputation as the most difficult place in the northeast to conduct business. Consider this: Next year, the state will spend $8900 for every man, woman, and child in the state for, again, deplorable public services . By contrast, New Hampshire (with neither a state income nor sales tax) will spend about $4400 per person in exchange for well-maintained highways and a well-run, integrated university system. So here's the question: How would you fundamentally alter RI's tax structure in order to keep more money in taxpayers' pockets and less in the pockets of Smith Hill pols to dole out as favors?

Very good Mr. Stark. Through education This failed Leadership at Our State House will be defeated. Then and only then, will Rhode Islanders rise from being rated the "Bottom" in America and begin Our Rise to the top.

Sorry Mr. Loparto, not nearly good enough. You're obfuscating. Let's get to the point: How would you fundamentally alter RI's tax structure in order to keep more money in taxpayers' pockets and less in the pockets of Smith Hill pols to dole out as favors? Thousands of Warwick's voters await your response, in detail, as to how you would fundamentally alter RI's tax structure.

Very simple Mr Stark. New Leadership and Representation! History is about to be made in the State of Rhode Island and the City of Warwick to Sway the Balance of Power to the Taxpayers and Small Business and Away from Special Interest and the Select Few. I know to you it sounds crazy. But Here in the Great State of Rhode Island, It's going to Happen! And Ron Loparto State Senator will Lead the Way!

Mr. Loparto: You lost my vote. "New leadership and representation" is not, repeat, NOT a plan. Would you reduce or eliminate the state sales tax? State income tax? Capital gains taxes? I threw you a softball and you whiffed! Sugar plum fairies and "education" is not a plan, especially in a state that boasts the second lowest median adult education level in New England. You had the opportunity here to outline a cogent, thoughtful plan. Disappointingly you failed.,
