This is in response to Jane Kenney Austin’s long and vitriolic letter to the Beacon (April 16, 2015) concerning Sewer Enabling Legislation. Her haughty diatribe concerns money and the power to force approximately 5,000 hardworking, elderly, unemployed, sick and overburdened Warwick residents and taxpayers in 2,500 homes, to pay the outrageous connect capable fee. These homeowners paid thousands of dollars for that pipe in the street (I paid nearly $8,000) and they have no desire to pay thousands more to hook up when they don’t need to. However, Ms. Austin absolutely insists that they pay additional yearly sewer payments totaling hundreds of dollars more as if they were connected. Unconscionable.

Ms. Austin’s demeaning comments concerning a group of decent and caring Warwick citizens is beneath dignity. Her opinion that the City Council members ambushed and lack courage is inexcusable. They are, also, honorable and decent human beings.

In my opinion, her massive letter was beyond the pale to wonderful Warwick residents and an absolute disgrace. Sadly, it comes as no surprise considering previous statements.

Eugene A. Nadeau

I find it ironic that the politicians who who caused this mess get off scott free and our citizens are at each others throats. The sewer issue is a disaster because no one really paid much attention until it was a crisis. That is the same with the schools, pensions, you name it. It is time for people to pay attention to their local government. That is where your tax dollars go. The schools eat up more and more each year. With sewers, its literally money down the drain. If the people running the sewer authority for the past 30 years (present leadership excluded) were not political hacks collecting a pay check, we wouldn't be in this problem. No one cared much when it only cost 3-4 thousand for sewers. Now it can cost 8-10 thousand for a small lot and up to 30,000 for someone with a large frontage.

Like most things in this state, political hacks make our lives miserable both in the short and long term. Wake up people. Wake up. Don't fight one another, go after the hacks. More importantly, pay attention.

Many people adhered to the sewer connections because they didn't want to pay the $500 quarterly connect capable fees that the city council had mandated. Many of those people had working septic systems. Many of those people had to make severe economic cuts because they followed the letter of the law. Refusing to charge the fee is unfair to those people. As usual the people that do the right thing got screwed.

One of the many things I respect about Gene Nadeau is that he uses his real name when he posts a comment. There are several readers that hide behind anonymity when they state their opinion. Nadeau doesn't. That's commendable.

Do you respect his spectacularly thin skin. His rhetoric is hilarious. Jane Kenney Austin's letter was hardly filled with the vitriolic demeaning attacks he accuses her of. So Mr. Corrente, if thatsw your real name, do you respect Ms. Austin for using her real name? LOL
