Dorothy E. (Torgen) Potter, age 89, of Warwick, died on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late George L. Potter.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Samuel and Cora (Cook) Torgen, she lived in Warwick since 1963. After graduating from Central High School, she earned a bachelors degree in social work from the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Potter was employed by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families for the last 34 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynne B. Potter; a son, Richard S. Potter of Narragansett; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late George E. Potter, and the sister of the late Edward H. Torgen. She is also survived by her nieces and many cousins.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, at 10 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 139 Ocean Avenue, Cranston. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, September 29, from 4-7 p.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.
