Dr. Robin Miller receives Nightingale Award

Dr. Robin Fowler Miller, formerly of Cranston, and a graduate of Cranston High School East and Salve Regina College, received the prestigious 2016 Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing in ceremonies held May 12. Dr. Miller, daughter of Joyce and Don Fowler of Cranston, resides with her husband, Dr. Michael Miller, in East Greenwich.

Robin is the Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing and was recognized for her “significant impact on the nursing profession.”

She began her career as a staff nurse at Woman & Infants’ Hospital in Providence and has served as an educational consultant, graduate research assistant, research nurse coordinator and grant co-investigator, moving on to clinical instructor, adjunct assistant professor and associate clinical professor. When working at Woman & Infants’, Dr. Miller was invited to return to the University of Rhode Island as adjunct faculty.

Dr. Miller has created outreach programs at the various UConn campuses. In addition to her work, teaching, research and program leadership, she has presented at numerous regional and national conferences and workshops.
